Dr. Kira Segal is a board-certified ophthalmologist with specialty training in oculofacial plastic surgery. She has a wide variety of practice interests, including eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty and ptosis repair), brow lift, thyroid eye disease/correction of bulging eyes, cancers of the eyelids, orbit, and face (including complex Mohs reconstruction), eyelid malposition, tearing disorders, facial nerve palsy, anophthalmic socket, aesthetic surgery, and non-surgical injectables.

Kira Segal, M.D. 
Board-Certified Ophthalmologist & Oculofacial Plastic Surgeon 

Dr. Kira Segal is a board-certified ophthalmologist with advanced fellowship training in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery. She offers comprehensive expertise in both aesthetic and functional procedures of the eyelids, orbit, and face, and is known for her thoughtful, personalized approach to patient care. 

Dr. Segal earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated summa cum laude. She went on to receive her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, graduating with dual honors in service to the community and research. During medical school, she was awarded the Medical Society of the State of New York Award for medical excellence. 

She completed her transitional year internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, followed by an ophthalmology residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Segal then pursued an additional two years of subspecialty fellowship training in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan. This prestigious fellowship is among the select few in the country accredited by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). 

Before joining EltraSelf, Dr. Segal served as an Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine, with clinical appointments at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She remains actively involved in organized medicine and currently serves on a leadership committee of ASOPRS. She is also a member of Women in Ophthalmology. 

Clinically, Dr. Segal treats a broad range of conditions, including cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery, brow ptosis, thyroid eye disease, orbital and eyelid tumors, complex Mohs reconstruction, tearing disorders, facial nerve palsy, and anophthalmic socket reconstruction. Her surgical training includes minimally invasive and scarless orbital approaches, as well as endoscopic procedures for tearing disorders and brow lift surgery. 

Dr. Segal is deeply committed to individualized patient care and works closely with each patient to develop treatment plans that align with their goals and enhance their natural features. Her approach emphasizes comfort, trust, and results that are both refined and natural-looking. 

Dr. Segal's Education

Dr. Segal received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. This prestigious fellowship is one of few in the county credentialed by the Oculofacial Society (ASOPRS). She was an Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine with appointments at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center before joining EltraSelf. She currently sits on a leadership committee of ASOPRS and is a member of Women in Ophthalmology.

Throughout her career, Dr. Segal has completed advanced training in complex approaches to the eyelid, orbit, and tear drainage system. She currently puts this training to use by performing a wide range of aesthetic and reconstructive procedures. Her surgical training includes minimally invasive/scarless approaches to the orbit for correction of bulging eyes as well as endoscopic surgery for tearing and brow ptosis.
