Reconstructive North New Jersey

Oculoplastic surgery is a highly specialized form of surgery focusing on procedures of the eyelids, face, orbit (eye socket), and lacrimal system (tear ducts). It encompasses a wide range of procedures from cosmetic to reconstructive and from non-surgical to surgical and microsurgical. Common conditions treated by oculoplastic surgeons include drooping eyelids and brows, eyelid malpositions, orbital fractures, eyelid lacerations, blocked tear ducts, skin cancer, ocular surface cancer, orbital tumors, and thyroid eye disease.

Dr. Richard and Dr. Neigel are amongst a small group of meticulously trained board-certified ophthalmologists who have completed additional years of fellowship training in plastic and reconstructive surgery through the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). There are only approximately 20 surgeons trained in oculoplastic surgery each year in the U.S.

Many oculoplastic surgeons also focus on cosmetic procedures for facial rejuvenation. Dr. Richard, in addition to surgical cosmetic procedures, focuses on many non-invasive treatments including neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin), injectable fillers (Restylane, Juvederm, Voluma, Sculptra, Belotero, and Radiesse), and lasers to offer patients a full range of facial rejuvenation options. These combined skills offer the patient both reconstructive and cosmetic procedures to improve the function and aesthetic appearance of the periocular region and face.

After 10+ years at Duke Eye Center, Dr. Richard now brings his compassionate, comprehensive patient care and his technical ability, artistic skill, and surgical expertise to the Neigel Center. For a consultation, please call 973.410.1100.
