Beyond the Razor
Everyone is used to the old methods of hair removal such as shaving, waxing and depilatory creams. All
of these methods must be repeated on a regular basis. There is also electrolysis. Electrolysis is an
invasive and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each hair follicle and delivering an
electrical charge to destroy them one at a time. This often requires years of treatment on a regular basis.
For longer-lasting results there are several hair removal systems. Both men and women can have unwanted
facial and body hair removed quite easily.
The Lyra laser hair removal system can disable hundreds of hair follicles in less than one second. The
Lyra laser is noninvasive; it generates intense long-pulsed light through an actively cooled handpiece to
disable unwanted hair follicles, thus impairing the growth. With the "cool tip" handpiece and the Lyra
process we can treat hair while maintaining a healthy appearance of the surrounding tissue. The Lyra can
remove hair from all parts of the body including underarms, cheeks, legs, arms, back, chest and bikini line.
The laser is not absorbed by melanin in the skin and can be used for those tanned and dark-skinned
individuals. The Lyra laser has another advantage with the change of the handpiece - it can eradicate
blue and purple veins.
The Neigel Center for Cosmetic and Laser Surgery also offers another laser treatment, the Versa Pulse
laser, which works very well on spidery veins, brown spots and broken facial capillaries.
Are there any side effects? Short-term side effects may include slight reddening of the skin, which
typically lasts less than one hour.
