Get the facts about BOTOX® Cosmetic
By now everyone has heard something about BOTOX® Cosmetic. If it hasn’t been a TV or newspaper advertisement, it may have been a friend who has mentioned it or has had the treatment. BOTOX®,
or Botulinum Type A, a natural purified protein, given as an
injection, relaxes facial muscles that are affected by our expressions.
The skin that overlies the area where the BOTOX®
injection is given will
smooth out, diminishing wrinkles, giving a more relaxed appearance.
BOTOX® injections have been given medically for years for patients with
ophthalmic and neurological conditions. It is FDA approved for selected cosmetic reasons. It
is one of the common and popular treatments for wrinkle reduction. BOTOX® is a very safe and simple procedure; a very small volume along with a very tiny needle make that so. A few tiny injections can be given to the area between the eyebrows (the glabellar), the horizontal forehead lines, and the crow’s feet, which are the usual areas of concern. It is also used for the relief of migraines and excess sweating. You can resume normal activities after the treatment. One of the common side effects is temporary bruising. You need to review the treatment and your expectations prior to having this non-surgical treatment for combating those unwanted wrinkles.
